PIG FARMING GUIDES !!!

What you should look out for in Intensive Pig farming.

Pigs are generally referred  to as dirty animals but there are three contributing reasons that support pigs as clean animals and they create such a living environment. Pigs are voracious eaters and will eat all the plants in the enclosure until there is nothing left to control erosion. The pig is a rooting animal and will dig for food in the enclosure, further disturbing the soil. Pigs have no sweat glands which means that they must be provided with water or mud in which they can control their own body temperature. Pigs would make an excellent addition to a farm for pasture renovation.

They need to have a house and temporary fence such as piggery pens helps to confine them to the farm area. In the intensive piggeries it is a type of factory farm specialized in the raising of domestic pigs up to slaughter weight. In this system of pig production, grower pigs are housed indoors in group-housing or straw-lined sheds. And the best way to confined the pigs is to use a swine pen. They are kept in such a condition that the temperature is raised either with electric bulbs or larterns which allow the pigs to spend less energy on keeping its body heat at the right temperature. This leads to the swine/pig becoming fatty quicker enabling the process to be much more efficient.

The hog or pig can be farmed using various types of pens. Farming pigs from outdoors poses various types of problems but when we consider small scale or family purpose farming it has been possible to manage these problems. Particularly the hogs suffer 'heat stress' in high temperatures and have no sweat glands to naturally cool themselves. This is why they roll in mud or water and we think this is the nature of a swine. To cool themselves pigs require access to water or a bulk area of mud such as wallow. And when they are not given water or wallow they start to wallow in their own living area. But normally pigs avoid their own excrement not like other farming animals. Pigs do not defecate just anywhere in their pens they only use a corner in their pens for bathroom purpose. it should be with a cement wallow which contains water in access to cools the pigs faster and give them relief which make them fatty. They also like mud because it saves them from sun heat or sunburns. It relieves them from heat stress. Alternatively, shade may be provided for the animals in form of swine panels.

The size of the swine pens are often kept small so that can conserve the material and cost also the swine do not need any extra place for living if you provide them with a pool to cool off and with good feed. If you are looking for family farming then small pig pens are best answer. if you are buying swine pens you should also look that parts have been hot dipped galvanized or not, which prevents rust and corrosion long term for your pig pens.
